Purpose:
The goal of the East
Hill Church of Christ adult education program is to
promote spiritual growth in Christ that leads to
maturity.
Philosophy:
Our philosophy is to
lead Christians to an integrated faith that touches
every aspect of their lives: emotional, spiritual
and physical; as well as work and family.
Method:
The approach is a
holistic program that recognizes the contribution of
classroom education, small group fellowship and
outreach, worship and ministry experiences in the
process of education. Classes and experiences will
ground Christians in the Word, equip them for
ministry, and address relevant issues of daily life.
Scriptural
Principles That Guide the Adult Education Program:
- To mature:
"We proclaim him admonishing and teaching
everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present
everyone perfect in Christ." Col. 1:28
- To manifest the fruit
of the Spirit: "So I say, live by the Spirit,
and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful
nature." Gal. 5:16
- To produce servants:
after washing the disciples’ feet, Jesus said,
"I have set you an example that you should do as
I have done for you." Jn. 13:15
- To equip the church:
referring to the role of leadership; ". . . to
equip the God’s people for works of service. .
." Eph. 4:12
- To instill endurance:
"Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let
nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the
work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in
the Lord is not in vain." I Cor. 15:58
- To produce people who
will share their faith: "It is written: ‘I
believed; therefore I have spoken." 2 Cor. 4:13
- Result will be: a
loving, suffering church that follows Christ and manifests
his love to the world in message and life.
