Wednesday Adult Classes
Men’s Class: “The Life of Jacob” – Fellowship Hall Through a reflective reading of select texts from the life of Jacob, we seek to challenge one another to being godly men. Plan to have a time of discussion and prayer with your brothers in Christ. Women’s Class: “The Epistle of Ephesians” – Fellowship Hall We’ll reflect on being a godly woman through a textual study of the Epistle of Ephesians. Plan to have a lively discussion and a time of prayer with your sisters in Christ. “How We Got the Bible” – Mark McLean – Auditorium Using Neil Lightfoot’s book, “How We Got the Bible” as a text (buying the book is optional), we will cover the history of the text of the Bible, including questions of canon, textual variants, and the transmission of the text through the centuries. “Genesis Uncensored” – Mark Miller & Tom Tandy – Fellowship Hall We’ll study the relevance of Genesis 1-11 for Christians in doctrine and apologetics. Guest speakers will include faculty from York College science faculty. |
Sunday Adult Classes
“The Love Languages of Children” & “Sacred Parenting” – Glenn Dallmann – Fellowship Hall This will be a two part class. In the first part we’ll reflect on Gary Chapman’s model of the Five Love Languages of children and how understanding these languages help us love, teach, discipline and prepare our children for adulthood. In part two we’ll reflect on Gary Thomas’ book, “Sacred Parenting” and on how parenting changes us to be more like God. “The Epistles of John” – Mark McLean – Auditorium This textual class will begin in I John 3:1 as a continuation of an earlier class on this letter. We anticipate covering the last half of I John and all of II and III John. “Isaiah & the Holy One of Israel” – Keith Miller – Fellowship Hall Isaiah provides a beautiful picture of the nature of the Lord and his concern for the welfare of his creation. The goal of this study is to encourage the Lord’s people to better reflect the glory of his character. “Lord Teach Us to Pray” – Frank Wheeler – Fellowship Hall A study of the prayers of the Bible to help us understand the purpose of different types of prayer, with the goal of enhancing our own personal prayer lives. College/Young Adult Class: “The Devotional Book” – Jared Stark – Stark’s house (623 Blackburn) A unique class focusing on the devotional reading of Scriptures especially designed for young adults and college students. Take note that the class meets at the Stark’s house and begins at 9:00. They will begin meeting January 19 after the college students return. |
