March 17, 2020
Dear East Hill family,
Yesterday the Nebraska DHHS updated their recommendation for social gatherings, limiting social gatherings to 10 or less people through March 31. This will prevent us from meeting together on Sunday, March 22 and 29. But it won't prevent us from meeting together online! We're putting together a plan to host a live worship service, and we want everyone to log in and participate with us. We hope to have individually wrapped communion supplies on hand this week, and we'll announce a plan on how to distribute these with all our households. We encourage you to consider how you might either host or connect with another family to share in our collective worship service, while still keeping the 10-person limit in mind. So please stay tuned on instructions for logging into Sunday's worship service.
We leave to the Small Group leaders to decide if you'll continue to meet. We ask that you would keep in mind the 10 person limit guideline and if you have people in your group that fit the people at-risk profile. If you decide not to meet, how might you be creative to either conference call for a time of prayer or do a Google hangout, etc.?
Per Rose Miller, the Thursday Ladies Bible Study has been suspended until further notice. In case you missed the earlier announcement, we've also suspended Sunday and Wednesday Bible classes, and the Sunday Night Group that meets at the building.
For those who are able to continue their weekly offering, here's the link to our online portal, East Hill Online Giving. One could also mail their contribution to 1225 East 10th Street. Thank you.
The LTC convention in Kansas City has been cancelled. The time with other congregations in Kansas City it a wonderful culminating event for the work the students put in throughout the year, but as the board chair put it, “it is neither possible, nor socially prudent” this year. The board will be finalizing plans over the next couple of days to provided support for us to host our own local culminating event. With that in mind, students should continue to work on individual projects. Group projects will have extended deadlines as necessary to accommodate our need for social distancing. Pre-convention events will be judged remotely, as normal. We will need to seek an extension on the due date for the group Video Bible Drama projects. If students could continue to work on ideas and planning for that remotely that would help. The Challenge events will be due March 30. You can email Michele at the office if you need any paperwork.
As previously stated, we want the church to know that we are here for each other as the Body of Christ. Please let us know when needs arise and how we might be of service to you. We'd also like to ask those who are of good health and who are able to, to help run errands for those who are homebound. This might mean doing a grocery run or dropping off one's bills, etc. Please contact the office if you're able to serve on this list of helpers.
We love and appreciate you.
